The VP, Structured Finance Underwriter, is responsible for structuring and underwriting complex credit facilities in a manner which achieves Arbor’s profitability goals while remaining within set risk parameters. Arbor specializes in the origination of debt and equity financing for multifamily, office, retail, hospitality, and other diverse commercial real estate assets.


The VP, Structured Finance Underwriter will have the following duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Perform all aspects of financial analysis, underwriting, and loan structuring; including statement spreading, risk assessment, projections and sensitivity analysis, industry and management assessments, collateral analysis and completion of credit approval documents.
  • Review and analyze financial statements, tax returns and cash flow statements of borrowers and guarantors.
  • Interface with credit, asset management, and treasury, as required, to facilitate the underwriting, closing and transition of prospects to portfolio management.
  • Coordinate the deal team during the underwriting process
  • Engage outside parties for reviews, appraisals, background checks, zoning, insurance, and other due diligence items as necessary.
  • Perform on-site due diligence through property inspections.
  • Contribute to the advancement and training of junior personnel within the group.
  • Provide internal Arbor departments with documents such as RAC memos, source documents, and other responses relative to securitization.
  • Coordinate with treasury, legal, and securitization in the placement of new securitized vehicles.
  • Evaluate leasing, management, renovation plans, and other borrower criteria in relation to the market.


Education: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Finance or a related discipline; MS in Real Estate or MBA preferred.


Experience:  Minimum of 8 to 12-years of related experience in real estate credit analysis, underwriting or commercial property valuation



  • Strong credit skills evidenced by ability to quickly evaluate strengths and weaknesses of a variety of originations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are critical to success.
  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Proactive and flexible to work in a dynamic work environment
