  • Overview

    Arbor, a real estate investment trust that invests in a diversified portfolio of multifamily and commercial real estate-related loans and other real estate-related assets has a career opportunity at its office in Alphretta, GA for an Underwriter. The Underwriter will be responsible for Review, inspect and underwrite Multi-Family Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac small loan transactions


    The Underwriter will have the following duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to:


    • Loan Analysis and Approval Memo
    • Prepare loan analyses and narratives consistent with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and internal guidelines
    • Summarize and analyze historical property operations
    • Conduct physical site inspections
    • Perform credit and financial analysis of key sponsors
    • Review and approve third party reports including property appraisals, physical needs assessments, and environmental reports
    • Ensure credit risk issues are appropriately mitigated and significant issues discussed as appropriate with senior executives
    • Work collaboratively with analysts and the originators to develop creative solutions in deal structuring
    • Work collaboratively with Legal, Closing and outside council to facilitate loan processing and closing


    Education: BS/BA degree


    Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ underwriting experience in commercial and/or multi-family real estate finance. Working knowledge of title, survey and legal descriptions. Experience with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac multifamily loan programs and underwriting requirements - emphasis on Fannie Mae Small Loan and Freddie Mac SBL.



    • Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents and financial statements
    • Knowledge of mortgages, real estate market, and financial lending
    • Must possess good written and verbal communication skills
    • Must be proficient in Excel and Word
    • Closer experience a plus
    • Ability to interact and effectively communicate with internal and external resources, including loan processors and associates, senior management, borrowers and vendors
