  • Overview

    The position will primarily focus on tax compliance for Arbor and its affiliated entities, including but not limited to partnerships, LLCs, REITs and C-corporations. The candidate will be responsible for federal, state and local tax compliance as well as tax process improvement initiatives and documentation procedures with emphasis on partnership taxation.


    The position will report to Director, Taxation and work with all areas of the finance department within the Company.  The ideal candidate will have strong work ethic and self-motivation with willingness to work collaboratively in a team environment to contribute to the overall success of the tax department and the Company.  The position will have exposure to various tax compliance and planning matters within the real estate industry.


    The Tax Manager will have the following duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to:

    • Prepare and review federal, and multi-state and local income and franchise tax returns for partnerships, LLCs, REITs and C-corporations
    • Prepare and review quarterly federal, and state and local estimated installment and annual extension calculations
    • Collaborate with functional teams within the finance department in support of tax return preparations and documentation of tax positions
    • Assist with preparation of state and local apportionment analysis
    • Prepare and review tax allocation workpapers in accordance with partnership tax regulations
    • Assist the team with year-end financial statement reporting requirements
    • Manage tax notices and assist with tax audit examinations, as necessary
    • Maintain tax calendar with tax filing requirements in accordance with federal, and state and local tax regulations
    • Research and consult on various tax matters; utilize tax-related software to prepare and process returns
    • Develop a strong working relationships with internal and external functional partners



    Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; Master’s degree in taxation or equivalent a plus.


    Experience: 4-6 years of experience – real estate industry a plus




    • CPA desirable
    • Strong knowledge of partnership taxation required
    • Understanding of general accounting concepts required
    • Strong PC skills, including tax compliance and research software
    • Solid project management skills with ability to multi-task
    • Excellent organizational and oral/written communication skills
    • Strong teamwork and people skills
