  • Overview

    The position will primarily focus on corporate taxation for Arbor and its affiliated entities including multi-state income and franchise tax matters. The candidate will also be responsible for federal, state and local tax compliance process improvement initiatives and documentation procedures.


    The position will report to Director, Taxation and work with all areas of the finance department within the Company.  The ideal candidate will have strong work ethic and self-motivation with willingness to work collaboratively in a team environment to contribute to the overall success of the tax department and the Company.  The position will have exposure to C-corporation, REIT and partnership/LLC tax compliance and planning matters.


    The Tax Manager will have the following duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to:

    • Assist with interim and year-end federal, state and local tax provision in accordance with ASC 740
    • Assist in preparation and review of federal, and multi-state and local income and franchise tax returns for C-corporations, partnerships and LLCs
    • Prepare and review quarterly federal, and state and local estimated installment and annual extension calculations
    • Prepare and review state and local apportionment methodologies and serve as tax technical resource on various state and local tax matters
    • Manage state and local tax notices and assist with tax audit examinations, as necessary
    • Responsible for maintenance of tax calendar and compliance with tax filing requirements throughout the year in accordance with federal, and state and local tax regulations
    • Research tax technical issues and tax laws on various federal, state and local tax matters
    • Identify and incorporate federal, state and local tax law changes to current processes and procedures
    • Develop a strong working relationships with internal and external functional partners


    Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; Master’s degree in taxation or equivalent a plus


    Experience: 4-6 years of experience – real estate industry a plus




    • CPA desirable
    • Strong knowledge of corporate taxation and state and local taxation required
    • Understanding of general accounting concepts required
    • Strong PC skills, including tax compliance and research software
    • Solid project management skills with ability to multi-task
    • Excellent organizational and oral/written communication skills
    • Strong teamwork and people skills
